MOTÖRHEAD To Receive 2013 METAL HAMMER Golden God Award

June 12, 2013

In addition to closing this year's Metal Hammer Golden Gods awards, British rock 'n' roll legends MOTÖRHEAD will receive the most prestigious award of the night itself — The Golden God!

The Golden God award celebrates and recognizes those who have significantly contributed, shaped and inspired the world of rock and metal — and few in Metal Hammer's world fit that description more than Lemmy and the boys. They remain a true institution in British music history and follow in the footsteps of previous Golden God winners such as IRON MAIDEN, MARILYN MANSON and ROB ZOMBIE.

Alexander Milas, editor of Metal Hammer, said: "The first, the biggest, and the best — the Metal Hammer Golden Gods are the ultimate celebration of all things heavy. It's a chance for us to hoist beers with the great and good of the metal community as well as the most important VIPs around — our readers. Part gig, part awards, and all metal, there's simply no other event like it, and with the almighty MOTÖRHEAD closing proceedings, this one's set to be the loudest ever. Horns up!"

The Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards 2013 take place Monday, June 17 at the London Indigo2 and features sets from MOTÖRHEAD, AIRBOURNE, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, COAL CHAMBER and PARADISE LOST, and will be streaming live for the first time ever via Playstation.

Tony Iommi (BLACK SABBATH),Duff McKagan (GUNS N' ROSES, VELVET REVOLVER),Corey Taylor (STONE SOUR, SLIPKNOT),Scott Gorham (THIN LIZZY, BLACK STAR RIDERS) and Jason Newsted (NEWSTED, METALLICA) are all confirmed to attend the event.
